Effects of supplemental oxytocin or prostaglandin F2α analogue in extended boar semen on piglet productivity of gilts and sows artificially inseminated in summer

چکیده
We determined the effects of oxytocin (OT) and prostaglandin F2α analogue (PG) added to extended boar semen on duration artificial insemination (AI) reproductive performance pigs bred in July August (temperate climate Central Europe). Eighty gilts second parity sows (G+SP) sixty-four multiparous (M) were divided into three groups. Group OT (11 G+SP 37 M) group PG (20 28 artificially inseminated twice (at onset estrus 22–24 h later) using supplemented with 20 IU or 5 mg PG, respectively. Thirty-three 15 M served as controls (C) non-supplemented semen. The mean first AI was shorter (P<0.05) compared females PG-supplemented (80±22 s vs. 191±26 s, respectively), whereas than OT-supplemented (93±15 192±28 s). pregnancy rate lower C (26/33; 85%) (11/11; 100%). had more stillborn piglets per litter their counterparts (0.8±0.1 0.1±0.3). In summary, addition associated times G+SP, but farrowing rates younger animals. Oxytocin supplementation a higher young females, older sows.

Achromobacter xylosoxidans in extended semen causes reproductive failure in artificially inseminated sows and gilts
Achromobacter xylosoxidans, a Pseudomonaslike bacterium, contaminated a boar stud laboratory’s water distillation and delivery system that was used for extension of raw semen for artificial insemination. In sow herds that used the contaminated semen, conception rates decreased and vulvar discharges, culled sows, and nonproductive sow days increased. Thorough diagnostic testing revealed that A x...
متن کاملUse of frozen-thawed semen aggravates the summer-autumn infertility of artificially inseminated weaned sows in the Mediterranean region.
Improvement of farrowing rate (FR) and litter size (LS) of sows that are AI with frozen-thawed (FT) semen can hardly be reached without identification of the factors behind the high variability seen among trials. Three experiments using weaned (4-d wean-to-estrus interval) multiparous (parity 2 to 7) sows were conducted to evaluate the effect of period of the year on FR and LS of FT-inseminated...
متن کاملon translation of politeness strategies in dialogues involving female characters in translations and retranslations of novels translated before and after the islamic revolution of iran and their effects on the image of women: a polysystem theory approach
abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language
since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
